Today is Time to Talk Day 2019,  run by Time to Change to help spread the word that there are lots of different ways to have a conversation about mental health. And you don’t have to be an expert to talk.

Time to Change is England’s biggest programme to challenge mental health stigma and discrimination and is run by the charities Mind and Rethink Mental Illness.

At Novacroft, we’re starting conversations by sharing biscuits and a cuppa and asking our team members how they’re doing.

According to Time to Change, mental health problems affect one in four of us. Yet it’s still something we don’t talk much about. Time to Talk Day encourages everyone to talk about mental health and to change the way we all think and act about it. Ultimately, talking breaks down barriers – that’s why we’re taking part in Time to Talk Day and having conversations about mental health at Novacroft.

Also passing around Novacroft HQ today is The Kindness Book – a book created as part of The Kindness Movement, led by Novacroft CEO & Founder Debra Charles, alongside longtime friends Jason Holt CBE and Stuart Acker Holt. Based on the belief that kindness is the fundamental principle of a strong and healthy society, the book aims to encourage the values of kindness, respect, integration and empathy, and to be place where stories of kindness can be shared. We hope it will help get conversations going this Time to Talk Day.
